How does the AI run without internet?
HushLedger uses a compact language model (under 2GB) that runs directly on your phone's processor. Modern phones have powerful chips — the same ones that power Face ID and computational photography. After a one-time model download, everything works offline.
Is it really as smart as ChatGPT?
For financial questions about your spending data — yes, it's great. For writing poetry or debating philosophy — no. We use a model optimized for structured data analysis, not general knowledge. It's a specialist, not a generalist.
Why not just use Plaid like every other app?
Plaid connects directly to your bank and routes your financial data through third-party servers. That's convenient, but it means another company has your transaction history. We chose manual import specifically so your credentials and data stay entirely in your hands.
What phones will it support?
iPhone 12 and newer at launch (iOS first). Android with 8GB+ RAM coming shortly after. We're building with cross-platform tech so both get feature parity.
How will you make money without monetizing my financial data?
Simple — you pay for the app. We're planning a small annual subscription (~$39/year). No ads, no data monetization, no "freemium" tricks. Since your transactions never touch our servers, there's literally nothing for us to sell. That's the whole point.

Fair question — and we want to be honest. This marketing site uses privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics (Umami + Cloudflare Web Analytics) to count aggregate visits so we know which posts are working. No cookies, no cross-site tracking, no ad pixels, no session replay. The only personal data we store is your email — solely to notify you when HushLedger launches. The *app itself*, when it ships, is what carries the on-device guarantee: your financial data never leaves your phone.
